Manston Airport again brought up at Select Committee on Operation Stack

The Transport Select Committee met again this afternoon to discuss Operation Stack.

The Committee, under the Chair of Louise Ellman, questioned the lack of transparency over the arrangements and cost of leasing Manston Airport.

The witnesses, Andrew Jones MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, and Jon Griffiths, Deputy Director, Road Investment Strategy Division, Department for Transport, and Jim O’Sullivan, Chief Executive, Highways England, say they will maintain confidentiality over the cost for commercial reasons.

They say they intend to use Manston as a back up lorry park this summer too.

Watch from 17.09 regarding Manston.
